    using bigger cv joint

    just a quick question some of you may know

    im nearly finished doing the s4 brake upgrade on my 1.8t fwd, now because im using the b6 uprights which have the bigger cv joint i was wondering if its going to cause havoc with the abs sensor ( bigger cv joint = different abs ring)#

    anyone know if there will be a problem??

    thanks

    they wont cause havoc with the ABS, but i doubt you'd be able to mount them to the gearbox.

    I have a TQS and have b7 ally uprights. The TQS has 82mm CVs as standard and 100mm inner, you have 70 odd mm outers and 108mm inners. When i changed to the 6 speed in my last car i used the matching shafts for the box and uprights

    Use V6 FWD shafts. They have 108mm inners and 82mm outers.

    i just put the bigger CV's on the existing shafts.
    the reductor ring matches the upright not the sensor.

    all the sensor is doing is watching something go round and round, not how big it is

    The large CV's dont fit the small shafts, from what i can see the washers, shims and snap rings are completely different sizes too.

    I've no idea how you managed it, as your car should have had the large CV's from the factory, so theres clearly something peculiar about your car that shouldnt be applied here.

    ETKA seems to suggest that some V6 FWD boxes actually have 130mm flanges, so you may want to measure them before you buy. I'm pretty certain the V6 FWD box i broke for parts had 108mm flanges.

    S4 and RS4's have 108mm inners and big outers, HOWEVER, it uses a different gearbox, namely the 01E, so the shafts are potentially going to be different lengths...

    If you can measure them, and they're the same, then yes they should work.

    If they're different you might have to change the drive flanges for 130mm versions and use V6 FWD shafts,

    Just did some cross reffing.

    S4/RS4 shafts are what you need. The part number also fits 180hp FWD 1.8T's (which didnt exist in the UK, but have 108mm inners and big outers!)
