Im back with the car in the garage, earlier than expected but, i can get on with the next phase in the build. Im starting on the suspension and brake upgrades for when the supercharger will be installed later on, and will start with changing and freshning up bushes and mounts, firstly the snub mount.

Having looked on other sites there seems to be a divide between manufacturers like APR, Neuspeed etc. Has anybody here fitted one of these? Im wanting to know which is best to look at, but also seeing some stuff that they add vibration/feeling thru the car which i would prefer to avoid.

Also hear some people have fitted the standard RS4 mount and find it fine, is it that much better than a standard A4 unit??? P.S What is the correct name for the mount here, snub mount seems to be a yank term and i cant find anything here. Any links would help too, cheers.

I've joined the throng of people adding the RS4 snub mount rubber and....... I can't say anything about it as it's in the boot of the car as I've not had time to fit it. :(

Cheap upgrade though and feels hugely more sturdy than the stock item

Oranoco - Is this an observation or comparison after fitting???

Does anybody have part no's???

8D0199339E snub mount think this is the right one still need to get one myself and do the other mounts

Not wishing to hijack the thread but has anyone got the part numbers, prices of the other engine and diff mounts etc as I want to freshen mine up on the 1.8 tqs many thanks

Are you thinking of doing the rear ran aswell as they look a bit feeble and I wondered if we could fit rs4 ones as a lot of rs4 owners uprate there's so the second hand one should be cheap

Pretty much nearly all in the suspension/drivetrain that i can find really, going to work my way thru them.

Car is fine, but these will be kicking on 14yr old now, and want everything tight for when the supercharger is fitted, more strain on these parts.

Any info you get stick in here if you want!

I'm after doing the same as cheap as possible as funds are tight and they are a big heavy car and like you say 11 year old bushes and suspension etc, even worse as my last car was fully Polly bushed and coilovers and only weighed 800kg with 230 bhp

I have a red one in mine.... cannot recall the name of it for the life of me,lol

I am going to refresh the whole back end of bushes in mine soon, as my track session at combe showed the weeknesses of the current ones in under a lap.

On the road it feels fine, but i can not do her any harm nailing decent OEM bushes on.

I am going to leave the engine mounts and that as they are for now as the lump doesnt move too much and the transfer of whines and vibrations is awful on stiffer mounts

How about a sticky of part numbers and prices of mounts bushes etc of tried n tested bits to save people time and money on getting overpriced stuff

Thats my reasoning also, plan on tracking the car at times and would prefer to prep it first than slowly wear things away and have to keep doing wkend jobs repairing them.

Some parts i will source uprated items, only if it will help. As for mounts etc, i'd rather not introduce too much extra stiffness thru the car as it is a road car firstly!

I can provide all the numbers and prices tomorrow at work. The RS4 mount is rock solid compared to the standard one. other uprated items arent sold in this country anymore so import only.

I'm liking this thread as I'm looking to do the same I think it is probably the best mod for our decade old B5's.

Its like giving our cars Viagra before they hit the track lol.

The RS4 snub mount is also used, as standard, on various other VAG models including Skoda Superb, Passat Syncro and various other 6-cylinder Audi's.

Should only be sub-£10 as well, so not an expensive part.

Its used on the big Diesel V6's, which is why its cheap and doesnt have RS tax applied.

Petrol V6's use a different soggier part.

Will sort all the numbers and prices after i get back from doing my deliveries, so later this morning.

Ok, 00-02 RS4 snub mount is 8D099339E £10.46 inc vat.

Also fitted to 97-02 Passat/A4 2.5TDI AFB/AKN, 98-05 A6/S6 2.4-2.7 ASM/AMM/BDV/ARE/BES

And if anyone wondered.. RS4 front engine mounts 8D0199379AD £103.35 inc vat each.

Indeed! its why i never went ahead with them when i did my engine mounts. Even at staff rate they`re £162 inc vat for the pair. Standard ones were free so that`ll do me! lol

Left £50.06 inc vat 8D039951H Right £50.06 inc vat 8D0399151J

What about the 034 motorsport parts? I have used alot of their products on my rs and rate them highly. I have a very good contact and i get good discounts if thats any use

Import thou? Or is there a UK distributer?

I have access to good discounts from 034 as i have good contacts over in the states.

The rs4 snub is cheaper but 034 would be good the the engine, diff, transmission mounts just always worry getting stung on import duty

I don't think import duties will be much I got charged £180 on the FT kit which was around $1100.

Yeah but it makes something that's cheap to the same as buying an up rated uk one, ideal if your going out there on holiday and bring back as hand luggage

import tax wont be to bad especially if a big order is places. I dont think there are many parts that you can get in the uk that come close to some of the 034 parts imo
