have some spare arms and was looking at how the ball joints are joined to the arm.
was just doing a bit of reverse engineering!

as far as I can see they much be part of the casting process.

any ideas?

The TRE`s are listed as a seperate part on ETKA. Although says its a repair kit but still 50quid each plus the vat but if you buy the kit which would have the arm and the end its the same price...

no I mean the ones in the arms.

no visible insert, though they might be pressed in but cast ali would crack I guess

Oh suspension arms. Sorry. Yeah pretty sure they arent listed as a separate but cant be 110% without being at work to check. But cant say i`ve ever seen them separate. They are on some models but the A4 i`d say no.

I guess given steels much higher melting point it would be pretty easy to make it part of the casting.

It could still be pressed in though, the alloy wont crack so long as the interference fit is done to the right tolerances.
