removing climate control panel?

hi all,
anyone know how to remove the climate control panel? when i bought the car about a month ago the heater controls were all gunked up, i'm guessing from the cup holder above. I've been using contact cleaner just spraying from the front which is working a bit but i'd like get in from behind(ooer).

remove the black trim around the climate and stereo, then the climate is held in with 4 little silver clip things.
