As the title really...
all i'm doing is crushing the thing -
borrowed a GSF Laser tools wrench off a mate and I'm just bending it

any ideas?

be careful I tried that and made it worse a friend had one of those metal strap tools with lots of small teeth all the way round that gripped it well but in all the pulling broke the seal on the oil cooler so when finished it was leaking from under that make sure you check that for leaks

Set of big grips from the top should do it if not aragorn's suggestion should do it fine. Or even a oil filter claw with a 3/8' drive.

got there in the end - after a cup of tea whilst muttering "one last try , it has to work"...

nice one for mentioning the oil cooler seal leaks - had one on an AHU engine and it's a pain to get that O-ring in!

hope having a cup of tea instead of getting the hammer out will mean no leaks ;)

I wrap 1.5mm twin and earth flex clockwise around them a couple of times, then pull, like starting a mower.
Never failed me - of course, the V6 TDi doesn't have that issue :moa:
