A4 2.5tdi will it start without the alternator belt

Hi
Done some work on my tdi now it will not start.
fires up with easy start so i know the work i done is ok.
It had a pump fitted just befor i changed the rocker arms.
Now it will not fire on its own fuel.
The only thing i have not done is the alternator belt cos i
am waiting from ebay.

Cant see why the alternator would affect anything. The battery is still there supplying power.

Have you checked for fault codes?

It will start, if it's a manual engine i would tow it instead, the vp 44 is ****e at self priming...
