Just had a price to replace my rear brake pads - £55 inc. I was told they use patten parts & mentioned Lucas...
This sounds very tempting when compared to £160 from Audi.

Is it worth doing it on the cheap?

Go to a wee man down the road who's familiar with Audi's.

Provide your own quality pads. Voila.

I'd imagine £40 for fitting rear pads. But thats a pure guesstimate.

Some employees of Kwik fit are complete dumbasses. Got into an argument over how to read the numbers on the sidewall. If a 225/40 has the same sidewall height as a 235/40 then i take back what i just said otherwise steer clear of kingston kwik fit. I was told this by the guy who was behind the desk who seemed to be running the place at the time.

My mate used to run a Kwik fit shop............. He's not too bright /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/lol.gif

I thought that 225 bit was the width and the 40 bit was the profile side wall height!!!
I may be wrong though.

Don't go there. Unless you want to crash....... soon.

My first car was a corsa (dont laugh) and I went to the local Kwik-Fit to have the pads done. I had the car back 3 times in 2 days due to horrid noises coming from the front of the car - not even when braking. God knows what they did to it.

Oh, and they forgot to 'tighten' the wheel nuts.....

Dumbasses indeed.

My S3 will never go near a Kwik-fit if I can help it!

You can't get better than a quick fit fitter!!!!

YEAR RIGHT!!!
The words
Monkeys zoo in a better job do could a. Spring to mind!!!!

I suppose i knew the answer already but was tempted to save cash,

Moral of the story is : don't let a dumbass near your S4.

Cheers for the feedback.

IF you dont wana pay stealers prices , prob just go to a local vw/audi specialist !
and if u dont know any, post on here im sure someone will be able to point u in the right direction ! think the moral of the story is dont mess about when it comes to brakes! hope u get some thing sorted out.

brake pad renewal is a relativly simple job to do..... pads can be bought from audi...... are'nt you tempted to have a go ???im sure the gang here at as.net would talk you through it ....
i like to do these easy jobs myself as firstly, you save alot of doe and secondly.... its brings you and your preciuos closer.
besides.... you cant do any worse than a quick5hit fitter. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/book.gif

The 225 is the width (mm),the 40 is the height of the tyre sidewall as a percentage of the width.
225/40 i.e. 40% of 225 = the height will be 90 mm .
