B5 S4 FMIC + Rad being done this week

    Hey guys.

Thought I would pop up the latest project for the S4

Just gone to Pace for kit development:

    FMIC
    Radiator
    Gear oil cooler

not sure yet how its going to be done, however its going to be a high quality core with and well made.

our previous testing with Pace intercoolers on the Renault range has proved time after time that Pace intercoolers are excellent and have exceeded other manufactures that are well known.

The pricing is yet to be decided, but its going to be competitive with consideration to the quality.

    Pics when I have them.

if anyone is interested themselves let me know

Will the fmic be a similar design to the 2 in, 2 out CX racing one, or their newer 2 in, 1 out?

Their intercoolers are very god generally. My track Escort has one of the very first full wicth intercoolers they made and despit ebeing a pre production example it's excellent and more than delivers what it needs to

What are you going to do for an oil cooler? Will your radiator use the OEM heat exchanger or will you be going with an off the shelf dedicated unit?

It looks a bit small to me. Myabe its just perspective and scale, but people put coolers that size on 1.8T's...

The CX Racing twin pass cooler that lots of people use looks both taller and thicker.

I thought it was on a 1.8 t as it doesn't look that much bigger than mine but then again pace cores are meant to be really good

You're both right! It is the stock sensor, and it does attach to a stock TBB with a jubilee clip.

However, on an APR bipipe like mine, or a fancy custom jobbie like Andy's, you are able to use the holes in the sensor to fit some bolts through. Guess it's probably a generic MAP sensor that is used in other applications which have it screwed in place. The fitment on a stock S4 was a bit of a bodge job by Audi!

the idea being that all the OE fittings and sensors and PAS cooler etc are retained (bar the fan of course)

easy to fit as well, with as little cutting as possible..

The core is important as its the strengthened type that is extruded and has internal section that stops the cores ballooning

After a few months with this the temps are much faster to drop after heat soak. It's also lower than stock. I will put up the details next week.

However I am delighted twith the kit
