2.4 V6 TIPTRONIC

Hi all new to the forum here. Hoping u can help me out.
I have a 1997/98 a4 2.4 V6 Tiptronic. The transmission control module is fried
and i have been unable to find one for two months now. Audi wanted 897 which i just cant afford. Ive managed to source one from a 2.8 V6 Tiptronic for 80 quid. Will it work in my 2.4 or not. Im guessing the tiptronic will work in the same way. But im not sure if the tcm will control the gear box in the same way.

any ideas are appreciated

Nobody out there got any idea I posted on the audiworld forum also and nobody knew the answer. Hoped i would have more luck here.
