I have a 1.9 tdi passat 1999. I have been having an intermittent problem as the car would keep going into limp mode and stutter at 3100 revs in 3rd gear. The car always went in limp mode in 3rd gear about 3000 revs and above (not good for overtaking) (normally when the car was cold or just warmed up).

If you switch the engine off it would and restart it would go okay. Most time it would run fine.

I took it to a local garage and he put one of them diagnostic machine on and it had 1 fault recorded. The fault that came up was "inlet manifold regulating diffent pressure". The garage said "not had this before but he will look into it and he has asked me to call back tommorow".

Any ideas what it can be and what part I would require. Alot of people have mentioned MAF and Wastegate valve. All your help will be appreciated

there is a manifold pressure valve, could well be that.

is there on a petrol 1.8 engine as well.
i've found under the cowling on the airbox there is a sensor in line with a vacuum hose.
it clicks none stop constantly at a high frequency and is ****** annoying!
Does anyone else's click?

Is the wastegate valve same as this manifold pressure valve.
