urgent!!! gear box problems! a4 b5 tdi help needed asap

soo just my luck one week before ultimate dubs and my gear box has gone! it grinds going into 3rd and ive lost 5th, does anyone know if i can put a 1.8T gear box in? and wether itl fit? its a 1996 P reg 1.9tdi a4 b5, really need help guys asap, thanks in advance benji x

Ive both boxes in the garage, I'll look at them tomorrow to see if they're similar. I'm sure though the ratios are very different.

Boxes will swap, shafts MAY be different, ratios deffo are different tho

ino about the ratios being verry diff, just really need to chuck a box in asap for next week, and the 1.8T is so much cheaper and easyer to get hold of, x

sorry about the delay getting back but couldnt get on the site, firefox kept saying site was harmful and wouldnt let me on. anyone else?? back to g/boxes, they both look exact same and inner cv seem to match up but cant check the outer one so splines could be different.

The ratios WILL be different though

At 80mph at 1.8T is doing about 3500rpm in 5th for example
