    Rear brakes and wheel bearings.

    Next month I'm replacing my rear disks, pads and wheel bearings.

    With all this off and being replaced is there any thing else worth looking at, replacing or just generally cleaning and maintaining?

    Cable. Hand brake cable? It seems fine at the moment. I'll double check it.

    Shields, Not a bad idea at all. If they are solid, i'll give em a clean and a paint.

    Nope, the caliper itself has a handbrake mechanism on it.

    Not really much else to do on a FWD, its quite a basic setup.

    Give the bushes a good pry to check for movement. They almost certainly will be knackered.

    is this for pre-face lift models or if that's the process in general for rear disc replacement? (removal of the bearing)?

    I'm doing mine on a pre-facelift.
    I assume its the same for all FWD models.

    Looks like taper bearings so just a hammer and suitable drift to drive out the races. A suitably sized socket is needed to put the races back in.
    If it can't be fixed with a hammer, then it must be an electrical problem

    I tend to use a screwdriver and a hammer!

    A useful trick though, is to knock the old races out (with the screwdriver and hammer) then take a grinder and cut a slot in both of the old races. Then you can sit the old race on top of the new one and beat it with a hammer. Might need to stack two of them up to get it all the way home. Once done, the old race just lifts out due to the slit.

    I did mine a while back, new discs, pads, bearings and the ABS rotors were all done. Handbrake cable is fine, so it can stay. Next on my list is the rear bushes, All of them and I have one broken spring, about 1" of the plastic coated bit came off, but they are 10 years old (as far as I know), so no point in messing about when the rear is stripped anyway.
