A4 heaterr not getting hot quickly enough

Hello,

My 1996 car doesnt get hot enough. My drive to work is 4 miles and can take up to 25 mins, but often even 15 minutes into the journey I am still not getting very hot air out of the heater. The temp guage hardly moves. On longer journeys it will crawl up to 90 and stay there - then I get very hot air. But when I get to work the guage is a couple of degrees to the right of the farthest left handside of the guage. I get warm air but it could be better - is this a thermoss issue? if so are these expensive and are they hard to fit.

Sounds to me like your thermostat is stuck open so the car is always being cooled not just when it needs it.

Could be wrong........
