Battery size

Hi all ,could any body tell me the correct size battery for my 1.8 20v a4 avant, the one on at the moment seems too small it is 44amp and 360cca,this doesnt seem to turn the engine over quick enough and struggles to start, the alternator is 90 amp,have phoned suppliers and get different sizes ?? cheers Rob

i think you want at least 60 amp. Ours is stupidly small too, although its correct according to the book, and it really struggles in cold weather even though its not even a year old.

The old car had a huge battery from a TDI, which started the motor without any problems

Order a battery for a 2.5TDI and it should be plenty big enough!

Mines standard too and struggles for the first turnover. Im about to get a 80amp one, but you really want to be looking at the CCA rating for cold cranking.

well what a job ive had trying to find out what size battery, Audi wouldnt even answer phone ,ended up with a company in Nottingham who sell on Ebay, they recommended a Bosch S4008 ,74Ah and cca 680, £70.00 all in, just need to get it here and fit, then ill have to sort out the A3 as that also has a dead battery, what next......empty wallet. Thanks to the two who pointed me in right direction.
