looking for a change in alloys..

ive got a set of 19" rs6 replicas, with brand new tyres on which cost about Ł120 each. Theyre pearlescent white, and in dire need of a refurb due to some curbing and chipped paint.

my options are really to either save up and get them shotblasted and powdercoated (about Ł300) in the spring, or do them myself. Im no stranger to a refurb but obviously these things take time.

the other option is to sell them on or swap them. what sort of price should i be looking at?

I think they suit the car, got them on mine but in 18s, think they just need to be a different colour imo and they would look great.

IVe just been quoted Ł200 for a shot blast, refurb, black powdercoat, rebalance and put tyres back on. i think thats a pretty reasonable price tbh.

Thats a fantastic price mate, especially 19's, i'd opt for that seeing as you've just put new rubber on!

Just do them yourself, if you can get hold of a cheap set of steel wheels or borrow some alloys off someone for a couple of weeks while you sort yours.

They need blasting to be honest, the current paint is coming off. Not sure who did them in the past but they didnt do much prep work. Unless i can work out a way to remove the paint myself ill have to do it this way.

    nitromorse!

Having said that, the wheel refurb place will do everything for that Ł200, if you do it yourself and want a good job you'll have to pay someone to remove the tyre, and then pay to have it refitted afterwards, and for some reason garages all seem to want about a million pounds to fit tyres these days.

Exactly, then the cost of materials, sandpaper, filling any dents etc, then paint and lacquer! I recently done my spare alloys and although enjoyed it etc, the cost was a lot more than i thought. My good wheels will defo go for the full works in my local wheel specialist, and its about Ł260 which i thought was excellent prices! Take advantage of the pro's price mate, worth it!

I've done the wheels on the A4, but i bloody hate painting.

Too much messing for me. When i did the winter rims i just wiped them down with brake cleaner, quickly rubbed over with 600grit then blasted on the paint, properly couldnt be bothered!
