I know this has been asked before....... and answered but I couldnt find it.....

which exect brake setup fits the B5 S4......

was it the b6 or b7 front setup (the single pot type) that goes straight on.....

and do you need the b7 321mm discs? (already got these just in case)

the EVO calipers were just not a close enough fit to be safe...... so pulled that project.

help appreciated guys.

Lots of brake setups fit...

Any B6 and B7 braking setup will fit a B5 S4.

If you want to use the 321mm B5 S4 disks, you can use the B7/Allroad single piston calipers, but this doesnt give you anything, other than a slightly better caliper and perhaps a better selection of pads, as the disks are the same as the standard S4 ones.

Alternatively the 345mm B6/B7 S4 disk and caliper will work, and provides a decent upgrade.

Ok, well the standard B5 S4 uses 321mm disks, which are also used along with a single piston ATE caliper on B6 and B7 A4 models (2.0T and other hot versions) and also on bigger engined Allroads

B6/7 S4 has 345mm disks, with the same caliper (S4 carrier just spaces it over a bit)

ah, its the B7 disks I have then.

right.... now just gotta find some

thanks as ever for the excellent help

Andy

yep, the A6's listed wont have a 345mm disk though i wouldnt think, they'll use the same caliper but a shorter carrier and a 320mm disk i recon.

Nez, how do you get on with the downpipes?

there are some RS4 brakes for sale, but you need uber expensive discs!?

ye the disks are about 300quid each unfortunately, which is why you often see the calipers being sold off for peanuts.

I have a front set of S4 B5 facelift calipers for sale. These are off a yr 2000 car and use the 321mm disks. I also have the used set of disks which could be used as a last resort, theres not much life left in them.

let me know if they are any use to you. cheers Steve

I have the 1999 S4 with the twin-pot, 4-pad front callipers. Recently had to replace O/S calliper and found prices to be £350-£450 (ECP) for reman units :greedy dollars:. Car is totally original so didn't want an upgrade. Stumbled on BCS Automotive where I had mine fully re-manufactured and a great paint job plus 10 year warranty for under £200.
Worth checking them out if your ever looking for reman units... https://www.bcs-automotive.co.uk/
Does mean you send yours away, unless you have spares but warranty alone beats any rivals!

Ran into a problem when bleeding the brake system though, reservoir split under 1.7Bar of pressure :sob:
