Been having arguments with a company who sent me the springs listed for a 2.6 v6 a4, not the correct 1.8 ones which I need
The company have at my insistence agreed to swap them for correct ones but insist the 2.6 ones would fit mine perfectly according to the manufacturer as "mine has aircon so is more or less the same" as the v6? Is this true?
The manufacturer lists them as:
Sport Spring 2WD, 4cyl lowers 1.3 29989-1
Sport Spring 2WD, V6 lowers 1.3 29989-2
another online retailer give the actual suitable weights:
A4 >970kg front axle weight '95-'00 29989-1
A4 (over 970kg front axle weight '95 on 29989-2
All the established retailers online in the usa clearly state the 1.8 springs as 29989-1 and have been tried and trusted by hundreds of 1.8 owners. Never heard of anyone fitting the other ones.
If the springs are designed for a v6 then surely the lesser weight of my car (unless aircon is that significant) will mean the car will sit higher never mind the effects if any on handling.
Am I being picky or are they right in saying the aircon makes them suitable?
