Symphony CD Problem

I am experiencing an intermittent problem with the in dash cd. At times a cd will play perfectly but occasionally it will stop abruptly and the CD ERR code flashes up on the fascia.
At other times the error code lights up immediately I insert cd.

Anyone any idea of the most likely cause of the problem & how to rectify it?

Is that with pressed CD's or CD-R's?

CD-R won't be better, just some CD-R's can cause intermittant read problems
