RS6 Wheels

Right then, just picked up a set of 5 x 112 8J x 18 ET43 5 arm RS6 type wheels, genuine Ronal.

Tyres fitted are 245/45/18 on the rears and 235/45/18 on the fronts.

Now do I need to run spacers with these or will I need to drop down to say 225/40/18 or even 225/35/18 to fit my '96 A4 V6 Quattro?

At present its running 215/45/17 6 spokes of unknown origin and these fit fine and do not foul. But they look *****.

Any experience/ideas as they look like they are going to foul the rear arm and also the top links at the fronts.

wheels will fit straight on. I ran the exact same wheel with 235/40's without issue. you may find the 245's are a tad snug up against the rear upright though. some tyre brands have a thicker material edge around the sidewall to tread join which actually makes it harder to fit them between the uprights than other brands. Michelin PS2's were easy but GSD3's for some reason seemed to have more of a corner on them and came closer to the rear upright. no issues at the front.

your bigger concern is the mismatched profiles.
not a huge difference but I would alwasy try to run the same profile front and back. 235/40 is the best match for that size wheel IMO

Tried one on the back today, rubbed the rear top arm like mad, that was with the 245's on. Now thinking changing to 225's with a 35 profile all round, or at least a 40 profile. The 235's at the front were touching slightly too, so either 225's or 20mm spacers. Think the offset at 43 may be incorrect for the A4's.

The offset is correct for a B5, however a B5 isnt designed for 8" wheels, so you generally need to drop down to ET35-40 to fit an 8" wheel on.

245/45 is simply too large for a B5. Rolling radius is huge compared with the original wheels.

Ideally you'd want a 225/40, but they're a bit narrow for an 8" wheel, so might be worth looking at a 235/40 and some spacers to take the offset down.

My B7 A4 wheels rubbed on the actual rim on the shock where the spring seats on the rear and they were 17x7.5. They were ET40 something. I had to fit some 5mm spacers to stop it rubbing.

its the 45 profile that is getting you.
225/35 is seriously thin, hope you live in monaco or have very smooth roads if you go for that option.

8J on ET45 is exactly what I had, fits without the need for spacers on 235/40's
