OIL CHANGE,WHICH ONE FOR MY BABY!

WTS^ everyone,
I have a to get an oil change very soon,i was wondering which oil i should use.I was thinking mobil 1,but i'm not sure,thanks again fellas.

I would have to disagree on mobile 1, its too thin even for modern motors!

I would suggust an oil like silkoline or Motul, a 10-60 if you drive hard or a 10-40 if you just potter around without giving it an mojor right foot!

Mobil 1 0w40 is only thin when it's cold. Once it's warmed up, it gets just as thick as a 10-40 (that's the beauty of synthetics), obviously a 10-60 would be ideal if you do a lot of auto xing though. I use the 0w40 because I have been waking up to fahrenheit temps in the teens ( -9.5 degrees Celsius) The car just turns over much easier when cold with the 0w40.

I would use 10/60 oil for what its worth. Mobil 1 isn't the best oil in the world. Just has loads of money behind its advertising.

In my manual Audi recommends Castrol SLX 0-30 for its engine. However here's a few interesting article on engine oil. The long and short of it is that 0-30/40 is fine. The 0w rating means that the oil will start working sooner at startup/cold temperatures and once at normal engine temperatures, will work like any other oil rated at 40. Also oils rated "higher" eg, 10w-60 will mean greater frictional loss and poorer cooling ability.

You should use 0w-30 or 0w-40. Do not use 10w-60!

I got told years ago one of the best oils is by by FINA i think it along the lines of esso/shell etc but they never seamed to make it north to scotland (that i know off) i saw one or two down south !
