Steering column swap?

I got myself a steering wheel that was in superb condition only to find that my car has the earlier type column on it. As teh steering wheel seems to be worth ****** all and there's been little interest I was thinking about swapping the column over to the later type. Found a complete column on E-Bay for £20. How much of a ball ache is it to fit and will the stalks etc bolt up to it?

From what ive seen its just an issue with the ignition barrel thats it really

i think you'd need the two main covers and the later slip ring, but pretty sure stalks would fit

but not to hard to remove column
