Would the K03 turbo out of a FWD 1.8t Sport (1996) be the same as the stock one in a Quattro 1.8t Sport (1999)?

Not sure what engine the FWD has (guessing its an AEB), the one in the Quattro is an AJL.

Thanks

sure some KKK guru will be along shortly but I am pretty sure they are.
Only diff between the 150 and 180bhp motors is the MAP IIRC

The T-Sport Quattro is supposed to have a K03s as opposed to the K03 of the T-Sport. However I have heard from more than one source that this isn't always the case.

It's a myth they have the k03s. Just the tiny k03. Think only the late DBW ones got them.

correct, which is why they are 190bhp IIRC

info is at the top there in the sticky bit. But as far as we are concerned a ko3 is what you want from a 1.8t long engined car from 1996 to 2001 as a direct replacement, or the turbo from a BEX engined B6 will be a bolt on upgrade

ALL cable throttle 1.8T's fitted to A4's have the same K03-005, including the 180hp AJL motor.

The very last of the B5's got engines with electronic throttle (APU amongst others), these engines have a slightly larger K03-029, this is NOT a K03S, its the same size as the normal K03 used on A3's and Golfs.

Both the 005 and 029 are good for about 200-205hp

Most B6's also have an -029 with the exception of the BEX engined 190hp model, which has a K03-073. THIS is the same size as the K03S fitted to A3's and is good for about 230ish hp

there you are see, told you he would be along shortly!!

Does this look like average condition for around 3000 miles?

Am I just being paranoid or shouldn't this turbo have KKK stamped on it somewhere?

It doesnt look that new to me TBH.

The funny symbol on the compressor housing is Borg Warners logo:

From what i can tell, Borg Warner own KKK, so it probably is a genuine turbo.

The compressor housing has a date stamp on it, get a close up of it to see when the housing was made, might allow you to better track down its age?

Where about on the housing is that situated?

If I were to source am 073 turbo from a BEX model, is it a direct bolt on fit and how will the TIP attach? or will that need modifying as well?

doesnt look like 3000 miles, more like 13000

Is it just me or does it look like there is damage to the blades and spindle?
