Replacing One upper front control arm ?

Those anybody know if I can remove one front upper control arm on 2002 A4 B6 without removing the mounting plate and shock absorber from the car. play in the balljoint and it needs replacing and will I need to get the wheel alignment done when I replace it

off the top of my head i remember only one of them can be removed in place as the bolt hits the body on the rear one i think. You just need to lower the top mount down though, 3 bolts. Its the long pinch polt that causes problems. always seized.

theres no way i would do the one ,
do them both as you have to fight with the pinch bolt job done and forget about it .
