Did you have it replaced. Did they change the water pump etc. I am currently getting quotes.

The cheapest was Ł385+vat and another Ł45 + vat for the water pump.

Most expensive quote so far was Ł750+vat from an independant

Would never risk getting mine done anywhere other than at a Specialist...

You get what you pay for.
Make sure ONLY OEM parts are used, not aftermarket parts. 2yr warranty on new OEM parts...

You should be looking at cŁ600 for a specialist including parts, labour and VAT.

If you know the guys reputation then yeah why not.
I had my Clutch done last week by BigJohns who used to be Mr clutch and they are **** hot, they do all servicing etc and I was amazed how many Audi's/Bmw/Vw's were in there but like I say, you gotta make sure you know about their Rep - Its like saying would you take your motor to Kwikfit for a full service!?!ha....

I would look at getting a SPECIALIST wich uses quality parts as audi/genuine parts are not necessarily any better than the quality aftermarket ones ! Look for good independents who dont charge
an awfull lot on labour. I would like to say that I use Contitech cambelts kits wich contain OEM tensioners and 100k rated belts. Water pumps i use (KWP) also use genuine bearings but feature a cast iron/brass impeller for long life. I have fitted hundreds in the last 5 years and did not have a single failure ! I also know of tens of Dayco (OEM supplier) belts wich snapped in half on the joint line and since the dealer is either using Gates or Contitech belts (especially on high torque engines)... You guys need to get in touch with me as i can beat most quotes and i use only quality parts on every jobs. I never look for maximum profit but a satisfied customer, i buy parts at trade prices hence i can pass the saving onto you ! Regards, Chris- 077 899 12128.

Worth checking out Stafford Audi Ł395 for V6 including tensioner Ł79 on top to do the pump so Ł474 inc VAT for the complete job. Will be booking mine in even though its a two hour drive from where I live!

Anyone used these guys? The price is good and they do say they use only Audi parts so I am hoping it will be a pain free process......

Only had the A4 a month, so had it done at Ian Collins Automotive near Preston - an Audi Specialist Independent.
Had all the belts (including the two Poly-Vee belts) and the water pump replaced for Ł456 + Vat.
Going to have a towbar fitted next month - and I'm thinking of a detachable.
Any views on what's best? And what would be a reasonable cost to have one fitted?

Just to follow up on what I said earlier I had my Cambelt and water pump done yesterday by Stafford Audi, I was damn impressed they were outstanding to deal with. I am hard to please so it was a bit of a shock to to walk away thinking I got good value for money work done. Also pretty good to know that a dealer is trying to offer a decent well priced service....finally. Simple formula for them to follow as I will now definitely be getting them to price any work I need doing in the future.

Sorry to jump in,my 18T as only done 18,000m BUT a 2003.Should i replace the cambelt?
Someone told me Audi never used state a time just milage, used to be 80,000m?
But when a few belts went before the 80,000 Audi set a time limit.
This is proberly bunkum,to be honest i think is was AA patrol patrolman.Thats why i thought it creditable.

The only reason I did mine was because it was old as mine has only done 30k miles.

Better safe than sorry when it comes to these belts I reckon

I understand that Audi advise changing the belts at 80k miles, or 5 years, whichever is earlier.

    Am I correct?
