couple of minor problems that need sorting, any advice would be greatfull
n/s mirror doesnt seem to adjust out enough
o/s mirror not working, i think that the mirrors are fused seperatly so will check that first
rear washer not working, read up on someone elses post so will follow the advice in there

also retrofit cruse control, ive seen kits on ebay for £200 fitted - £250 fitted, i dont mind fitting it my self if someone could tell me what i need parts wise, i have a mate who can re-program the ecu if that needs doing, which i think it does as this is what was needed on a mates passat

cheers in advance.

Hi and welcome, the avant looks sweet. Have your mate scan the car (vag com) this should help you with the door mirror fault..

A member called chrisash32 (i think) has recently just retrofit cruise and DIS to his car. Send him a PM perhaps and he might be able to tell you the parts you require etc.

Car looks lovely! I am really liking the wheels and lowering combo. I'm currently trying to presuade my wife that ours NEEDS lowering.

Oh yeah, I think they might be the RS6 style alloys, but not too sure. I want them for my car too, but i'd do them a grey/ anthracite colour.

Welcome to the forum Scott :icon_thumright:

Nice looking car! Those are indeed RS6 style alloys, originally fitted to the RS6 obviously (as 19's I think) but subsequently fitted to many A3's and A4's, including mine! Nice wheel's which are very easy to clean ;)

Reference the cruise retrofit, have a read of THIS THREAD detailing a cruise and DIS retrofit - DIS, being the full on board trip computer. I imagine now you just have the distance to empty gauge showing?

Any questions ask away

So are yours 18" ones quattrojames? And roughly what price do you reckon should be paid for them? Sorry to thread hijack! :)

Mine are 18"s yes - (but my Avatar is a photoshop! ;))

I would think £300 for a decent set of genuine 18"s with reasonable tyres is somewhere handy - price adjusted either way for condition/tyre life..... Be aware that A3 ones have a much higher offset (54 or similar) so will really sit in under the arches on an A4.

That is one nice looking avant, if you want shot of those wheels pm me, oh and welcome you will find all you need to know here.
Matt

Nice motor mate, almost exactly like the mine (bought last saturday). Same colour and body kit etc, except you have all the extras i hope to get soon (rs6 wheels, half leather, chrome mirrors etc, remap).

In fact, your car is just like how mine will be when ive finished.

cheers guys, well having driven the car more, ive discovered why the mirrors wouldnt adjust, there catching on the chrome on the mirrors, but managed to move them by hand so there set for me

but another little fault has come up, the headunit, standard one, come to put a cd in, came up with CD ERROR. but befor i go and get a replacement headunit, is there any comon faults that will throw this fault up, i will try lense cleaner first to see if that helps, fingers crossed

cheers

AKOYA SILVER LY7H. Is the colour:icon_thumright:

This sometime happens to me. I clean the cd or take it and try again. This only happens to certain brand of backup cd.

I would try a lens cleaner.

Nice avant you bought! reminds me of the "bubsters"...by the looks of it, avants are taking over!!!

well did a little bit to it today, removed the towbar neck, sanded it down to remove the bulk of the rust, painted it all gloss black, fitted new towing socket further under the bumper, and then added a stainless bumper protection plate and chrome flip type towball cover. then gave the car a wash, will add pics once ive been asleep

Yeah pretty much - only 1.8T 190hp models came as S-Lines, I'm no expert but I think the only difference between an S-Line and yours would be door badges and silver trims on the door door sills.

Sweet Avant, i freaking love them... you get it for a good price. Sure it wil have many miles of happy motoring in it for you!

next on the to do list is to fit the S4 front brake set up thats sat in my garage, once i get my M drive set box of my mate, followed by getting the leaking coilover shocker replaced, but at this rate i might just get all new as itll be quicker than waiting for FK replacement.

apart from the above i think thats all the car really needs

I am liking the mods mate. Wheels look rather nice I must admit! I have considered both the sets of wheels you have had, but gonna stick with the basic sport wheels as mine's not lowered and don't want it looking like it's on stilts.

I take it your parking sensors are aftermarket jobbies? How do they interface (if at all). Are you impressed with them? And any idea on window tint %'s? I'm hopefully getting mine done soon, so trying to see how dark people have gone.

parking sensors are aftermarket ones made by LASERLINE its the ones that we supply and fit at our works, they wire up to the reverse light feed and an earth, then theres a speaker which ive mounted in the boot area, there not the cheapest about, but one of the best sets out there.

the window tints arent dead dark compared to my dads BMW that can be seen on one of the pics, not sure on the percentage as they where on the car when i got it

stunning Avant there Scott...
I believe them tints are about 35%, look the same % as the ones on my Lupo.
How do you find the drive on the coil overs? I have just been told my rear suspension is shot and was thinking about just swapping the full lot out completely?
I don't know if you have used them before, but just seen you are based near me. If you want a very good VAG Specialist, try Awesome GTi in Irlam. Always looked after my VAG cars and do a really good job :)

Cheers

the fk coilovers seem fine compared to the ones on my old almera, which felt like they where solid, ill let you better once ive got the front shocker replaced

yeah ive used awesome, its them that did the cruise control for me, but there labour rate is a bit high compared to PSI Tuning in stoke

I agree mate, looks a beaut.Love the colour and the alloys suit it really well, I had them on my red one and wish I never sold them at the time.

the wheels where a bargin at £350 with 2 new bridgestone tyres, then got them refurbed and 2 more tyres, all in, 4 new tyres wheels and refurb set me back £850 ish tyres would of cost £640 for 4!
