    Cambelt Specialist Quote

    HI all,

I live in Portsmouth so I was doing some searching for a specialist within my area.

    I found one, http://www.mdmtechnik.co.uk/.

I asked for a quote for a Cambelt change on my A4 3.0 Cabriolet.

He quoted: Ł755 inc vat for Cam Belt and waterpump.

This seems a little steep for an Independent Specialist.

    What does everyone think

My local garage who do all my work are about to quote me as i need the same, I am having the waterpump and thermostat, full service and a new water sensor fitted, i expect it to come in well below what you have been quoted for all the above

Will let you know the total quote later.

I used MDM Technik to do the cambelt service on my RS4 - brilliant chap.
He used to be a technician for Audi but is trained on Bentley's etc.

He's got a good reputation on SRS forum...

pm a chap called chris on here his call sign is adamss24 hes a 2.5tdi expert and has his own garage 3.0 cant be a lot different hopefully. he quoted me Ł400 all in for cambelt, waterpump, thermostat, diesel pump belt, serpentine belt, collant and all tensioners and ever a hydraulic damper. after all that he will retime the diesel pump on vagcom also.

not saying prices wont change but there are a lot on here who will vouch for his expertise and trust him although he is in north london. dont know if this will suit you

Thanks for feedback mate, yes i could beat that quaote at least by 200 quid ! I would need a reg number to make shure i get all the right parts ! I work on a daily basis on Vag cars and just done Oliver's quattro b5 (2.8 petrol b5) on tuesday and i would say that i dont cut corners. I use quality Contitech belt kits and quality aftermarket water pumps... Also to note that the V6 tdi cambelt kits are much dearer than the petrol ones (they have an extra belt and tensioner for the injector pump wich bump up the price). For example phoenix quattro(Ollie) was Ł400 (i quoted him Ł340 and i drove to his place!) all in wich included a new radiator as well as it was leaking... I do 2.4,2.6,2.8,2.7 engines for Ł350 all in supply and fit ! Some models are dearer tthan others but i get trade discounts so i can pass the savings to you guys ! Some cars the job takes 6.5+ hours...
