Audi A4 2.0 FSi AWA engine. Inlet manifold collapsed !

Hi, my friend has a 53 plate A4, it's a 2.0 FSi 150 with AWA engine code. It cut out at the weekend and wouldn't run properly afterwards. The garage that are working on it has found that the air flaps inside the inlet menifold have collapsed and gone into the engine. This has caused the valves some damage and one cylinder now only has 30psi conpression. Looking at a bill of over £1200 to sort it out...
Anyone else had this, I've heard of it happening on the Golf MK5 FSi too.

I seen this a few times not just on VAG engines Fords do it too, the joys of plastic manifolds with flaps.

bmw tdi do it alot thats why i got my self an a4 tdi meant to be better ;-0
