How do I plug Cd Changer into RNS-E Navigation?

Hi,

I am really confused on what how to retrofit the CD Changer to my Audi navigation rns-e.

I have bought this cable and retrofited the navigation unit http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320474517356 three of the four plugs is connected and one is left as a extra which I am guessing is for the Cd Chager to plug into.

Now I have the Cd Changer and now need to now which plug I need for the CD Changer to work?

CD Changer control goes into the "orange" plug, which is also pre-amp out for rear speakers & sub and/or BOSE amplifier.

Could you go into more detail?

That "orange plug" has already been used and I have one "black plug" remaining?

Also which cheap dvd player can be put into the rns-e? Also a link of all the things to buy will be usefull
 
You have an ISO loom and a quadlock RNSe HU, so that adapter is exactly the right one (bargain as well). The problem you have is that the ISO loom in your A4 has the soild black 20 pin mini ISO connector (the long thin one). This provides 3 functions, pre-outs to the rear amp or Bose amp, DIS feed and CD changer. If there was no CD changer fitted originally then the changer part of that connector will have no cable connected. Have a look at the connector, are there wires missing on one of the ends?
This is where the changer needs to be connected. There are 2 options for doing this.
1. The easiest way is to buy a PIE pass through adapter and an ebay changer lead with the small blue mini ISO connector. The changer lead plugs into the adapter and into the changer. The black connector also plugs into the adapter then the other end into the ISO to Quadlock adapter you already have. It effectively allows you to splice the changer lead into the main loom without any fiddly pin swaps.

Unfortunately these only seem to be available from the states.
2. Buy the same changer lead and extract the pins from the HU end and insert them into the correct slots on the 20 pin black mini-ISO connector on the factory loom. You will need a pin removal tool as the usual paper clip trick won't work on these mini pins.

Orange Plug, known as Connector :

Pin 01=Pre-Amp Left Rear (Bose or Amp)
Pin 02=Pre-Amp Right Rear (Bose or Amp)
Pin 03= Amp 0v
Pin 04=Pre-Amp Left Front (Bose)
Pin 05=Pre-Amp Right Front (Bose)
Pin 06=ACC Switched +12v (Live when Headunit ON)
Pin 07=CanBus-H
Pin 10=CD 0v
Pin 12=CanBus-L
Pin 13=CD Data-In
Pin 14=CD Data-Out
Pin 15=CD Data-CLK
Pin 16=CD+12v
Pin 17=ACC CD switched 12v
Pin 18=CD 0v (Signal)
Pin 19=Lch
Pin 20=Rch

Looking into the male pins of Connector , they are labelled as follows:

(1)(4)----(7)(10)----(13)(16)(19)
-(3)(6)--(9)(12)----(15)(18)
(2)(5)----(8)(11)----(14)(17)(20)

Note "-" shows spaces between pins.

External Video:

For adding a video source, like DVD or i-Pod video feed you need a multimedia interface. I've mounted one in the glove box where by default I have it connected to an ipod video lead so I can get Audio and Video's playing through the RNS-E. If I wanted to plug in a DVD player or video camera etc. I simply remove the i-Pod cable and plug in the Audio L+R+Composite video signals into the box.

I have also added an additional L+R Audio channel input which is selected through the AUX-In on the RNS-E for an additional audio source. The connectors for this are the Gold Red & White ones to the left of the multimedia interface.
My media box was off Ebay 18 months+ ago, from a Polish source I recall.
Had a quick search on Ebay this morning "RNS-E Multimedia" and this looks like the one I have (Link Here) and I paid around £75'ish I think.

You will need to cut into the Connector CanBus-L & CanBus-H signals to make this work with the RNS-E. And the other connection is a +12v feed - (NOTE: Do not use Connector ACC feeds as they do not have enough current to drive this unit and it will not work - speaking from experience!! I actually used a transistor and relay to source a switch signal from ACC Connector I which switched the main Head unit +12v supply to this interface - stops battery running flat.)

This is the same type of i-Pod Video Cable (Link Here) I used to connect to the multimedia box through the Red/White/Yellow RCA connectors and there is also has a 0v/+12v feed to enable the i-pod to be charged when plugged in. I have an i-Pod Vido 30GB Classic. I think I paid around £10 for my cable, again 18+ months ago. I have my i-Pod just under the arm rest in the cubby hole their - the cable comes out the bottom of the rectangular shaped storage area (note bottom easily pushes out to feed cable in).

You will need access to VAG-COM to program TV / CDC settings etc. for the RNS-E.

Yes the plug & play route is easiest for me and thank you for all your help guys much appreciated.

As for installing the DVD player im quite confused on where to buy it and also how it will power up? What im thinking is that it is an easy install just buy this from ebay http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/AV-Multimedia...S_Accessories_Software_ET?hash=item25588dfde2 and plug the DVD into, is it tha easy or is their more to it?
 
I think my description of work required says it all above as an overview - if you have specific questions I'm sure we can point you in the right direction.
This multimedia device is not Plug and Play requires wire connections/splicing into existing looms - a little soldering and heat-shrink, etc.

If you are not comfortable with vehicle electronics then I would suggest getting it done by a specialist.

Okay guys bought the things above and tried to fit my cd changer but it didnt work, but I know the cd changer works as when I put metal to metal to the sat nav it worked but doesnt work with the wires.

This the rns-e lead I bought http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320474517356 are these leads the wrong ones

The only way I can gain access to plug into the rns-e leads is marked with the circle as you can see below.

The CD changer mounting frame isn't a separate part - you either need a new glovebox or do do some clever cutting and fabricating.

Bought a mounting frame from kufatec and with a bit of adjust its perfect now but having trouble with changer now :(
