After test driving a 1.8t and 3.0 I've decided I prefere the 3.0

Anyway... I've seen a 3.0 with 50,000 miles for sale but no mention of cam belt change. When are these required on these engines?

If it's not been done how much does it cost? If it's due soon will be a good hagling point

I think Audi recommend something weird like 105k for the belt, but personally 5 years or 60k would suit me.

I expect it would cost getting on for £500 to change that and all ancillaries.

105?!?!?

Thanks for that. Maybe that's not much of a hagling point if they know that

Don't just take my word for it though! Even the latest B6's must be coming up for five years old now, so would be due a belt really if it's not already been done.

I think it is 5 years or 80,000. I had mine done at 42,000 (5 years old) Cost from main dealer was £700 after haggling. I think Stafford Audi can do it for about £500-£550.

SpoKe to him and it's not been done. It's a 2004 so really it should of been?...

Haggle with the dealers they wanted £700+ for Timing belt chane including water pump change as a precaution, got it down to around the £500 mark.
5 years or 80K is the recommendation as per "no_idea".

Sorry for the hijack
but which make of cambelt kit is best, ContiTech, skf or gates
Thanks and sorry for the hijack :ninja:
