HELPPPPPP, immobiliser issue

Hi guys

i just had a call from a garage i am having my engine rebuilt by. they have completed the build, however they cant get the car to spark/start up at all. they asked me to bring down the spare key (which i cant find for the life of me). any ideas if it is the immobiliser or if it could be somethin else?? either way i cant find the spare so any ideas???
