Side Mirror

Had my passenger side mirror smashed by a w4nker this morning. Luckily it's only the glass, slight scratch on the cover. Anyone know how easy it is to replace, it is heated? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif

I called VAGPARTS and was quoted less tha £20. The guy said all I needed to do was adjust the mirror all the way down and then prise the old glass off with my hand. I tried this, but stopped short because it felt as though the entire inside unit was going to snap and shatter to bits. Anyone else had to replace theirs? Any help much appreciated.
