Problems with heater / fan, please help

Hi All

I have a Audi A4 1.8 Turbo Sport 2004

Every time i seem to turn the heater on i get a loud noise from the front sounds like a blower or the fan however everytime i turn the heater off the noise goes? The heater works fine

Does anyone know what this could possibly be and what would be the best cure to getting this diagnosed and repaired?

Could be rubbish in the air intake / pollen filter area.
Had this on a Passat (based on B5) and thought the dashboard was going to explode with the vibration when the fans was on.

Check the pollen filter which is on the n/s next to the battery.
My problem was after the VW garage changed the filter all the crap filtered out fell down and then got into the fan area intake. Probably be cured with a look with a torch and a good suck on a vacuum cleaner hose to clear out the rubbish.

Ahh Brilliant thanks matey i will give that a try tomorrow and see where to go from there.. Ive not had the car long and this noise is really bugging me i will give it a go and post back up.

prob leafs and another bits, if not use abit of WD40 and spray the motor and give it a turn by hand.
