Cannot open boot on Audi A4 2001

Hi,

I cannot open the boot lit on an A4 2001 saloon. THe problem started when the boot lid actuator stopped working and the only way to open it was using the key. However after replacing it the actuatuator neither the key nor the actuator will open the lid. When the boot release button is pressed the actuator clicks but does nothing else. Is there any way to open the boot lid now.

Tom I had a similar situation and it turned out that the barrel where the key is inserted was damaged. I used a small piece of metal to repair it myself, however I spotted it before I closed the boot lid. I don't know of any other way to get into it other than with the key if the actuator is broken. Sorry fella.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. It turns out that the key barrell was actually damaged. The mechanic eventually got the boot lid opened drilling a hole in the lid behind the number plate in the appropriate position. He was then able to get access to the rod to activate the lock mechanism.
