    Trade in price.

Bought an 07 reg B7 2.0TDI (140) S-Line today with 19K miles on the clock due to my new job involving commuting 30K miles a year.
Paid Ł14,985 for the new one and got Ł8500 trade in on my 1.8T (190) with 34K on the clock.
Fairly happy with that deal, do you think it was a fair price?

It was an 04 plate S-Line that I traded in, it's for sale here:

    http://atsearch.autotrader.co.uk/www...00928337823426

    Main website is here: www.grantspecialistcars.co.uk/

I've still got the car until Tuesday night. Didn't want the hassle of selling it privately and can't be without a car due to my job so wanted a direct swap.

It's not a quattro and the only option it has is the interior light pack where you get the red led lights by the interior light that cast a red light down on the centre console at night, lights in the door handles and footwell lights. I think this was an option but it may have been standard.

Parkers guide price is based on 50k miles, but is only Ł7k!!

Dealer prices for them to sell it on should be around:

Franchised Dealer Ł8,895 Independent Dealer Ł8,645
    (again, based on 50k)

I'm guessing he's just had some good experience with turning around low mileage S-Line's in good time: it's a nice colour too, so should sell pretty easilly.

edit: in summary - you got a pretty good deal....

ah - is that an Auto/Multitronic? If so, then he seems to be a bit closer to guide prices... but still a good deal.

    And here's the guide price for a B7 07-plate 2.0 TDI 140PS:

    Audi A4 Saloon (05-08)
    1. 2.0 TDI S Line (12/05) 4d
    2. 2007/07
    3. Average mileage: 20,000 miles

    Original Price
    Ł23,492
    Franchised Dealer Ł16,385
    Independent Dealer Ł15,775
    Private Good Ł15,160
    Private Poor Ł13,075
    Part Exchange Ł14,090
Just thought I'd look that up in case he was being generous withthe trade in and then taking it back with the sale.... but it wouold appear not! Seems like a decent deal all around!

Now you just need to run the diesel car on chip-fat and you're laughing!!

Yes I was waiting for him to offer around Ł7K or just under so was taken by surprise a bit when he said Ł8500.

ps. No multitronic, new car and old car are both 6 speed manual.

sounds like you got a good deal then.... maybe he just figured that the market for <Ł10k cars was moving faster than the newer cars.... probably find he'd had a few enquiries from people saying "I like that one, but I don't do enough mileage to need a new TDI, would rather pay less and get a slightly older petrol", etc, etc.... you never know!

Nice Good to see someone get a good deal from a dealer for a change rather than vice versa!
