petrol into my A4 2.5TDI Quattro...

A details as per my post in the diesel forum....

"my dad's just filled up my A4 with petrol (had 3/4 of a tank of diesel in there already), but he just figured he'd do me a favour since he'd borrowed the car...doh!

I know he has NOT started the car and I don't think he has even put the ignition to "on"..."

Waiting for a specialist to come out... apparently it's gonna be £166 + another 65litres of BP Ultimate DIESEL...

yep, all been pumped through and cleared out, tank emptied and new tank of derv... hopefully no long-term impact!

seems to be.... had a quick run last night and it seemed 100%, running the parents down to Heathrow, so some nice A3 road (and motorway) running, so I'll get to "test" it properly once I've dropped them off

Having owned 6 banger petrol BMW' s for at leat 12 years, i moved onto my 2.5TDi about 2.5 years ago.......and the 1st fill up I did I put £5 worth of unleaded in :-(
So I can claim to be one of the idiots waiting on the side of a petrol station forecourt waiting for the AA to pitch up !

I did not start it and pushed it off the forecourt.....and had to pay £88 at the time to have the tank pumped out as I was not taking any risks......

Has not missed a beat since.........

thanks Johnny.... I've run a couple of tanks through now and not had a problem.

Did you replace any filte? I wasn't going to, but it says that it's an advisable option in the small print at the bottom of the invoice from the company that did the "evacuation"....
