    Anti Hijack Option

In my last A4, the doors used to lock when I started driving but it doesn't do it in my new one. I'm guessing its something easily changed.

How can I get this done ?

Personally I wouldn't want that - if you felt it necessary to lock the doors while driving through the town I would just use the central locking button on the drivers door. IMO it would be safer for someone to be able to get into the vehicle in a collision where you were say knocked out, than it would be a danger from car-jacking - where I live at least!

It might be possible to change it on VAG-com though.

Vagcom has many options to change & this is one of them, auto lock, I always have mine on, comes from living in South Africa back in 2000, even in UK it happens so best safe than sorry tbh

OEM RETROFITS - CRUISE CONTROL - SAT NAV - BLUETOOTH - AMI - HEADLIGHT SYSTEMS

PARKING SYSTEMS - DIAGNOSTICS - FAULT FINDING - BODYWORK - PAINTWORK

I was of the same opinion as you "quatrrojames" until I had a Merc with this function enabled - in some of the area's of London I do business, it's a comfort to know all doors and boot lids are locked - especially with perhaps a laptop in the boot. I enabled this after getting VAG-COM on my Audi, standard on my company beamer.
    Also note:
    • Remove the key from the ignition - doors unlock automatically. Although if wanting to get out you simply have to tug twice on the door handle - it does not deadlock!
    • I understand that in a collision - doors automatically unlock - although I feel that I do not have to test this feature!!
With VAG-COM here are the various options with regard to the Comfort Module coding and adaption you can play with......
    Module CODING Value:
    • +00001 = GB-Alarm (not USA)
    • +00002 = Confirmation Anti-Theft Warning System (Blink)
    • +00004 = Selective Central Locking (SCL) .......Drivers door & petrol flap on 1st press, rest on 2nd press
    • +00008 = Anti-Theft Warning System
    • +00016 = Rear Lid Release Locking at 5 km/h
    • +00032 = Central Locking at 15 km/h (or 10 mph)
    • +00064 = Comfort Function via Remote Control (not USA)
    • +00128 = Right Hand Drive (RHD)
    • +00256 = Avant
    • +00512 = Confirmation Close via Remote (1x Blink)
    • +01024 = Confirmation Anti-Theft Warning Sytem Horn Activation
    • +02048 = Door-/Window Regulator Logic
    • +04096 = Thatcham Anti-Theft Warning (not USA)
    • +08192 = No Safe-Function
    • +16384 = Side Windows with Insulated Glass
Note: Coding is the sum of the individual options. Not all options apply for all control moduls!
    Adaption Channel:
Channel 62 enables total closure via your key fob remote - keep lock or unlock button pressed for a few seconds! Similarly put key in drivers door and keep turned in lock or unlock position for a couple of seconds.
    Channel 062: Comfort Functions
    • +001 = Comfort closing via remote for window regulators (not USA)
    • +002 = Comfort opening via remote for window regulators (not USA)
    • +004 = Comfort closing via lock cylinder for window regulators
    • +008 = Comfort opening via lock cylinder for window regulators
    • +016 = Comfort closing via remote for sunroof (not USA)
    • +032 = Comfort opening via remote for sunroof (not realized)
    • +064 = Comfort closing via lock cylinder for sunroof
    • +128 = Comfort opening via lock cylinder for sunroof (not realized)
Note: Adaptation value is the sum of the individual options.

I enabled this for a trial today. I found it annoying that when I stop the car at home but leave it running, and then walk round to open the boot or rear door it's still locked (and I doubt I'll remember to unlcok via the door switch that often!) - so I've disabled it again.

    Do many people use it?

i have this on mine and i like it to be fair i think its some thing you get used to but then i nearly allways take my keys out when i get out so it all unlocks any way. and i do worry that one day i may have it running and i`ll get out to do some thing and it will lock me out if it gose faulty lol so i always have the window open just that weeee bit lol james do you not have to click your key pad twice to unlock all doors if its not on then ? on mine one click opens just the drivers door 2 is all doors and boot.

I didn't use it in the MkIV because, on a hot day with my elbow out the window, the door knob went down and took a chunk out of my elbow with it!

Activated it as soon as I got my B6. It says in my manual that they automatically unlock in a 'major accident' (or something like that).

I've not enabled that, one press is fine for me and my lifestyle. It's not like I live in Harlem. When I'm at the rear of my house I'm quite safe to leave the car running while I get out to open the boot/rear doors etc.

I think you can enable the boot to unlock at 5mph which would be a reasonable compromise.

The only other thing I'd be interested in trying is getting the alarm to beep on locking.

I like it, it's a nice feature to have. It's also worth noting that when someone wants to get out, they don't have to unlock the doors, just pull the handle as normal and the door unlocks. This feature stops people getting in from the outside.

Also a feature your want with this is when you pull the key out of the ignition, the doors all unlock. This is useful as your other doors and boot won't still be locked. All activated simply by VCDS.

Is that a chirp from the siren, or a beep from the horn? I understood that you can make it so the siren chirps, maybe thats what it means....
