DIS warning symbol..Engine oil sensor faulty

I've been getting this faulty oil sensor warning in my DIS. its only coming on intermittently, but I want to change the sensor..how easy a job is it? and where is it?

its definately the sensor one and not the level one btw.

    cheers.

    Mark.

its the same symbol as this except it says 'SENSOR' instead of 'MIN'.
manual says to take to dealer(no chance!) and have the oil level sensor checked.
oil levels are fine. and the oil is getting to the top end as i have a weep from my rocker gasket!

mine did the same, started 3 weeks ago....the engine blew up on monday. Seized cam, seized turbo, clogged oil pump.

Read my post on oil pressure / level warning......once the warning stays on, the pin is out of the grenade - as j7uss put it. They warned me not to use the car after the warning stayed solid, I did, and it went bang the next morning.

good plan mate, hope its ok. Did you have to replace the head / valves or cam timing unit last time? This has happened twice to mine as well but I caught it before the damage happened, then the oil was fully synth, extra large filter fitted etc, and it did 6k then started the oil pressure thing again, third time I did the oil & filter it only lasted 3 weeks and about 900 miles before going pop...

Oil sensor is different to oil pressure.

My oil sensor went, and I got the warning of "Oil Sensor" on the DIS. Got a new one from the scrappers and the warning disappeared. It's a very easy job to do, the sensor sits at the bottom of the oil sump and is held in with three screws and some kind of gasket/cover, all the oil comes pouring it when you change the sensor though, so keep a pan handy.

My pick up blocked on the way to cornwall back when gloucester flooded (07?) so it did the turbo bearings in...I had the turbo replaced and the sump off and pickup replaced.. it then got its major service cambelt oil etc abot 6 months later, then it did about 6000miles( 12 months) and got serviced with castrol edge and new filter. I've only done about 4-5000miles since then.... its got a intermittent fault too (see separate thread) but it drove fine this morning. I also havent had the sensor light on for a week...
I think I'll borrow my dads car for my paintball run tomorrow and then take it to volksmania on monday...leave the ownness on them to give me a guaranteed trouble free car back. regardless of cost..

I rang a few vag specialists yesterday for a chat and one questioned the reliability of motorfactors coilpacks.... which i've fitted to mine...hmmm.
I honestly dont think its an oil problem..more air/boost/spark problem and a faulty sensor...but I'll play it on the safe side as I dont want another 900+ bill.

cant believe how ****e the 1.8T engine is. unreal....

quite tempted by the new S3...I wonder how different the 2.0TSi engine is to the 1.8T lump of turd.

cheers. I'll stick my head under and have a look. I think I'll get it replaced with an oil change whilst its in for fault finding.. at least I'll have the option to take it back should anything happen.....
