My 2002 TDI is idling a little heavy and loud

i noticed my revs on about 1 when i am ideling..is this normal for a deisel?

and also the motor being a little noisy...is there anything i can do to quite it down?
like a lubricant in the fuel or something or would a tune up do the trick.

i was looking on ebay for spare parts, and replacements for some interior parts on my my 2002 tdi..
would it be easier going to a scrap yard and taking off parts my self?
