What RNS-E

I've bought a 2002 1.9 tdi quattro se avant that has an RNS-D factory fitted but want to upgrade to the later RNS-E. How do i know which version to get as looking on ebay they all look the same (for a4's) but have various part numbers and h/w versions.

If this post is better suited in the ice forum could a mod please move it.

I think the only real change was to the dvd drive. It was changed about 2006 ish (someone correct me if I am wrong) to a more reliable one. Only thing I would suggest is get the newest one you can. I bought mine off ebay and it is part number 8E0 035 192 T. The 'T' denotes it is a 2008 version.
Try to get an up to date navigation dvd and this will update the software when you first put it into the rns-e. It is also best if you can get an original version and not a copy. The laser has to work harder to read copy discs and the lasers can fail. All the parts are available to fix most things though. Have a look on the link posted above. There is a wealth of information on there.

one more tip: NO SDHC, only SD cards (normally 2Gb max and some selected 4Gb cards)
