Is it a dealer only job to get the locks changed on my S4? the car was taken witha key so the insurance want all the locks change otherwise Im not covered

I think you could get that fixed elsewhere too? but it may be safest at the dealer..

anyway I guess you're lucky, the insurance companies in Sweden does not cover it if the car get stolen with the actual key. you atleast get hell of a trouble to get it covered though.

anyway good luck

Man your pay a arm and a leg to get them to do it.

I would look for a full set at a salvage yard or if new chuck Siena a PM to pick up a set from Audi and he may be able to help fit them or a local specialist but either way it's not going to be cheap.

The ignition lock is the hardest the rest you could do your self oh and don’t forget the seat lock in all that.

TBH if you know someone who can pull the SKC of your cluster then can do it all yourself through vcds mate, thing is coding takes 30 mins anyway which is fairly small charge at audi, but unless you're gonna change the locks etc in the dealership car park then they'd have to do the lot at same time which is where costs mount up, given car wont drive when its having the locks all changed, so cant exactly do locks then drive to dealer to have coded unless you tape the old key to the barrel for immo purposes

working out almost a grand. 60% is labour.

Where is the seat lock? mine is an Avant I dont think it has a lock in the rear seats

Should the insurance company not be liable for the cost of this then?

yup the insurance company will cover pretty much all of it

An auto locksmith will remove the locks, alter them and supply and program new keys , check your gp for them.
