Help with replacement wingmirrors please!

Some nice chap / chapess, has broken off my near side / passenger wingmirror, with use of duck tape its working fine, and none of the plastic is broken, but the alloy metal inside is.

Audi want around 400 GBP for a replacement - not possible at present, and breakers seem confused whether the mirror assembly is the same on the cab as the saloon / avant!

So firstly does anyone know for certain that they are different?

Secondly, does anyone know how I could repair the metal, or find a replacement metal part ?

Why is it though when boredom kicks in, it makes you wanna search and potentially Spend a shed load

When you buy a whole mirror it will replace the ally bit and you should be able to fit it your self or if your not too far from me I might be able to offer a hand.

and the Cab mirrors are not the same Saloon and Avant are the same infact the whole door is.

...doesn't supply A4 cabriolet mirrors and confirms they are different from the saloon / Avant.
