Hi guys having gone to see a mechanic,i was told maybe my turbo is gone or the seal in turbo is gone. Now i might need to replace the full exhaust system and the turbo. Now how much will that set me back and can i get an aftermarket one. Please i do need help.oh i do have a4 Turbo sport.Does anyone know any Independent audi Specialist in putney (SW london). Thanks

I had a turbo go recently on my 1.8T (190bhp) and the best quote I had was £640 for a recon unit from a reputable local mechanic. Audi quoted £800 to fit a new a new one after I negotiated the price down but I ended up going with the local mechanic as it was still £160 less.

check ebay for a turbo unit, k03 model likely, and as Aragorn says the exhaust is not affected by a leaking turbo oil seal, but the turbo would indeed need replaced if the bearings have gone as the turbo will suck oil out of the sump and blow it into the engine / intercooler.

if you're still after an independent garage, it might be a little way away, but Fontain in Langley have always been good for me... probably not as far away as you think from Putney either... www.fontain.co.uk

even if your turbo is dead, what has that got to do with the rest of the exhaust?!

Thanks alot guys. When i did check the exhaust pipe there was a mixture of oil and water in the pipes.
