Engine management light woes

Is this the way things go with 1.8t sports? One thing after another. If the engine management light comes on one day and then doesnt the next - does this mean there is something amiss with the engine or is it the warning light sensor?

Also can I take the opportunity of wishing evryone on here a very merry xmas and a great new year

i'd imagine it means whatever fault exists, is intermittant. The car will check all systems on start (and while driving) and if something is broken will bring on the light. If on the next start, it seems to be working again, the light will go out.

Whatever caused the fault should be stored in the ECU's memory, and can be read out with VAGCOM
