I have a Concert single CD head unit and it looks like my CD changer port is broke. Tried 3 CD changers on it now and they all fail to do anything on the head unit. The single CD works fine.

So do I get a new Concert head unit or get an after market one?

I have the sub in the boot but not the full bose speaker system, so what aftermarket head unit would work best with the rear amp & sub?

I'd like to go MP3 too either in the CD slot or via a usb connector, if i went with the aftermarket solution.

Any advice greatly appreciated.

To explain further.. The head unit recognises the cd changer(s) but just doesn't play the CDs or tracks, so it recognises the changer is connected but wil not operate it correctly.

I don't mind too much about the looks of the after market head unit, I am more concerned of how to fit one and keep all 4 speakers and sub working. This is where I would need help.

Apart from Blaupunkt & Becker all aftermarket HU's require wiring adapters to plug into the active Audi harness to feed the rear amp/sub. Becker & Blaupunkt will plug straight in but with any aftermarket HU you will need to wire in an "ignition on" feed or rely on switching the HU on/off manually. You will also notice the rears and sub will be feint compared to the fronts as any new HU will be more powerful than the stock 2 x 20w Audi rubbish, so you will need to fade to rear to balance the sound.
You'll also need a fascia adapter and an antenna amp adapter.
