    Help! I'm Melting!

Guys - please can anyone help save me from a summer of sweatiness and frustration?!? I thought i'd be able to get by without my aircon working but this heat is doing my nut! To recap, Kwik-Fit have regassed but still no go and 1 air-con specialist has said new compressor @ 470! Does anyone have Vagcom in the Bournemouth area who would be willing to run me a diagnostics check in return for a small fee? Then hopefully i might have enough info with which to make a decision as to what to do next!

    Many thanks

    Richard

My aircon gave up shortly after a regas but a mate assured me that the pressure switch was at fault..... and it sure was now its running perfect
The Near side light had to be removed to gain access to the pressure switch which is located on the right hand side of the aircon rad.

The switch was around 45 if I remember correctly. HTH

The pressure switch has been mentioned, which i'm hoping would show a fault code! Does any gas escape when you change the switch?

The switch also went on my last A4. No gas escapes when changing, it just unscrews. It will show a code in vag-com - G65 pressure switch. Hope that fixes it..

How did the Air con Specialists diagnose a compressor?
    What tests did they do...

They jacked up the front of the car (offside), started her up, whacked the air con on and connected some hoses and a gauge to the connections by the air intake! Hence my desire for a second opinion! Want to find a definite cause rather than process of elimination as funds are tighter than a duck's bum!

How my air con spec did it was, Bypass everything and wnet straight to the Compressor and it worked fine, Air was Ice Cold, soon as we reconnected, it didnt work. So least we knew it wasnt the compressor and saved me buying a New one for Fcuk all!!thank God.

Take it to an Air con Specialist (different one of course) and ask him to bypass and wire the compressor directly, he should know what you are talking about and test it that way. If he says he cant do it then he just cant be bothered.

    Try it mate
