    Project 1.8T

    Hi

As (some of) you know I've recently sold my S4 and bought a FWD 1.8T (190) Sline in Black. I have posted a thread recently to help select some wheels, which is still ongoing, but nearly there. I thought I'd start a new thread keeping you uptodate with the mods I'm doing.

    Comments are welcome...

Firstly, the car has now had windows tinted, 35%. The car has half leather interior in black too, so makes the car look extremely, well err black (!) in certain light. The first two are of the car as standard, so you can see the changes:

    []
    []

Next are some recent shots straight after the tinting:

    []
    []
    []

Next up was some black grills, the bumper and bonnet grill both in black too, for some variety :

    []
    []

Those more observant of you may have noticed the bumper grill not on. That'd be because I ordered the wrong part then! I ordered the non SLine variant by mistake. It's smaller. The SLine part is now on order from VAG Parts and will hopefully be posted out this week. The smaller/wrong one going back... Doh !!

This coming Saturday, I'm having the exhaust changed to a full Milltek system, an Upsolute remap, Forge DV, a K&N panel filter, a Samco Turbo Inlet pipe, and having a B7 RS4 RARB fitted to help tighten things up in the curvy bits.

Following those bits is to be a brake upgrade, a change in wheels, and a slight lowering of suspension, maybe a further 30mm...

    Thanks for looking

    Hi Niknak.

Got them done at Kent Auto Film in Sittingbourne. Paid 200 cash, which was quite heavily discounted as I've used them before (on the S4). Also went to their unit in Sittingbourne rather than their local place nr Canterbury. I think their normal price for an A4 saloon is 300.

    Will have to check.
    Back in 5...

Haven't driven it much yet so can't really comment, certainly not driven hard round any hard corners yet. Seem ok TBH, but not having had them before I'm not sure how they compare re against say Michelin/Toyo/etc etc etc...

I like the black grilles, make sure you post another pic when you get the lower one fitted.

tjm69 - got both from VAG Parts. The bonnet grill was c50 and the lower bumper grill will be c60 (haven't got it yet). Make sure if you get one (the bumper grill), that it's for the correct car, i.e. S-Line or non S-Line. The car's have different valances, which makes the grill a different size...

You've probably been asked already but do your wheels have a new home once you have replaced? Grills and tints look

    Hi Andy

Yes I have had a few enquiries (well 7 actually!), but noone wants to make an offer?! If you'd like to then PM me.

All 4 wheels are in immacualte condition, and the tyres have plenty of tread left. They're original OEM's not replicas...

Ok, so have now had fitted :

    RS4 RARB
    Panel Filter
    Dump Valve
    Milltek System (100mm tips)
    Upsolute Remap

Apparently there isn't a turbo inlet pipe available for the 190 1.8T yet?! Not sure about that. Thought that Bub and others already had one fitted...? Will investigate.

Anyhow, it drives much much better now. Anyone with a 190 who isn't sure about whether to remap or not, it is well worth it, as is the zorst... Much better mid and lower range pull, and the pipe is not too intrusive but has a much better/deeper note. Only issue being that the RHS tail pipe is not centred on the valance hole, so will need adjusting on my next visit...

Will post some new pics tomorrow, once I've given it a wash...

    Cheers.

Yes am thinking of lowering it, by c25mm. Haven't yet looked into springs and amount of reduced height available, but will be fine with anywhere between 20-30mm I'm sure. I want to get the new wheels sorted first though and see what it's like.

I need to see the AMG Reps on it, before I make my mind up. The Sportecs and AMG Reps are from the USA, and even with the shipping costs are alot more affordable than over here...

Zeratul was going to Photoshop them for me, but I know he's a bit busy with a house move, so I'll have to wait a little longer, unless anyone else can use Photoshop?

    So, left to do:

    Lowering by c25mm
    Turbo Inlet pipe - Neuspeed
    Wheels
    Front brake upgrade
    ICE

Should be nice after that. Mrs StoakseyA4 has started 'borrowing' my car instead of taking hers now too !

    Cheers...
