Had my aircon system re-gased last summer but now the flippin 'ECON' switch won't go off again  (this happened last summer before re-gas) which would suggest there is a problem with the system somewhere again.
I remember after the re-gas was done, when I turned the engine off after a drive, there was a hissing noise comming from around the battery area. I didn't think it was leaking gas as the system was working fine, up until last week.
I also noticed a noise last month which sounded exactly like a slow puncture, but the tyre was fine  could this be a leak?

Certainly sounds like a leak! Get it sorted quickly beacuse if moisture gets into the system then it can damage the compressor, condensor, reciever/drier, leading to a much more expensive bill.

I wouldnt take it to Audi, I'd find a decent Air-con specialist who has leak detection equipment and they'll usually pressurise the system with Nitrogen to determine where the leak is exactly.

My B5 has always hissed when you turn the engine off, apparently it's normal, haven't had it on the B6 though so maybe it is a problem.
