Alternator

Hello people,

I need a new alternator for my 2001 a4 1.9 tdi.

From calling round a few auto elec places i gather there are a few are a few different alternators that could be in my vehicle. Is there a way of seeing what part number my alternator is without completely removing it from the vehicle?

Also, what format is the part number in so i know what im looking for?

If anyone could help me out i would be very appreciative. If anyone could recomend a supplier i would be happy also.

Whatever you find out, don't forget that your engine was in all manner of VWs, Seats, Skodas etc - i.e. don;t pay "Audi" prices.

I know this engine was in a range of vehicles, so once i know the part number i can get calling around.

I assume you have the same engine as mine, the 1.9 TDi 130 bhp and this is a B6 model (new shape)?

The engine code for this engine is AWX and it is possible that you could have one of two alternators

The Bosch unit has part number 028 903 029 Q
The Valeo unit has part number 028 903 029 R
