Does anyone know where I could get a set of RS4 antiroll bars for an S4 Avant?

Just picked her up on Friday and think there is a bit too much roll.

where abouts in scotland are you ringo-dog i just bought a rear rs4 arb from stirling audi as glasgow audi wouldn't sell me one with out an rs4 chassis no.:wtf: have to say the service at stirling was fantastic and put glasgow to shame .i've got the part no. at home i'll post them up later price for arb, bushes and bolts was around £70 .now i just need to get round to fitting it

Just bought one for my S4 Avant too. VAG PArts £65 delivered...

You can get them from your dealer. They are cheap.

Cheers will find out what dealer is wanting for one, think it is the way forward!!

So has anyone fitted the RS4 RARB,if they have how easy is it.If it's more difficult than IKEA furnaiture then am screwed!!
Has anyone got any pics of one fitted??

Having fitted uprated ARBs in the past, it is <insert major caveat> usually a straightforward job. Do it with the car standing on its wheels- if you can get it up on a ramp it's easier, but it is possible to do it just lying on your back underneath. Unscrew from drop links, remove subframe mounts, remove ARB. Insert new bar, apply subframe mounts, tighten back into droplinks. Bob is your mother's Aunt as they say. Not sure what the spanner/ bolt sizes are for the A4, anyone know?

Does the ARB kit from VAGParts come with new bolts and subframe bushes by the way? Always good practice to replace those at the same time.

Ordered today from VAGParts - less than £50 including VAT and delivery. Bargain! Looking forward to receiving, fitting, and driving!

Are you sure it's a 'kit'?

If you do a search I posted the part numbers 18 months ago. You will need bushes for the 22mm bar but bolts should be ok.

IIRC the end bolts are 16mm and the centre brackets 13mm. It will take you 30 - 40 mins MAX.

@Bub - cheers for the bolt dimensions. I remember it took me about 40mins to fit a Whiteline adjustable RARB to my old S2, so I hope that experience will be useful this time round! As to what I ordered, I guess I'll have to wait and see! If there are no bushes, I'll order up some new ones, good point...

Ok, so I fitted my RS4 RARB today. Just to re-cap my car is an 03 3.0V6 quattro Sport - so it has the factory sports suspension, which I understand is 25mm lower than stock and slightly stiffer...

Took the best part of an hour to get the new bar in situ. Damn the thing is stiff!

Anyway, taken it out for a drive and I'm concerned :(

1. it's squeaking like a stuck pig. I was quite liberal with copaslip on the subframe bush. What's creaking?

2. it feels to me like the ride has changed for the considerable worse. It feels now like everytime I go over a bump, the car literally bunnyhops from the back end, it seems to rebound far too much before settling. I didn't imagine a stiffer ARB would do this?

On the plus side the nose does turn in a little quicker. Wasn't able to give it some serious stick to measure whether there's significantly less understeer.

I'm rather worried about points 1 and 2 above though. What can I do? Has anybody else had these issues? I really don't want to have to put the old bar back on!

Hi all,
Part numbers are listed below
Roll bar 8E0511409AL £38.51
Bushes 8E0511327D x2 @ £1.72
Bracket 8A0511439 x2 @ £3.25
Bolts N10127707 x4 @ £0.25

Hope this all helps

Oh my God, I've managed to put it in upside down :scared2:

And there's me having replaced two ARBs before too. Just shows you, always, always double check your work. I just hope I've not fracked the dropinks with all that extra tension...

Hey Dan_b

I want to do the same mod to my Audi A4 Avant 2.5 TDi Quattro Sport.....def wanna know how your car handles, once you have got the ARB on correctly !
Mind you I will probably pay an VAG specialist to fit for me.....

Right, sorted out my RARB orientation, what a numptie! :jump:

Anyhow, put it on the right way this time, with the aid of having the car on a ramp - it's a heck of a lot easier to get access that way I can tell you! I also found it useful to unhook the exhausts to give a bit more leeway. God only knows how I managed to put it on upside down the first time, but it just shows you.

So, the verdict. Bear in mind it's a v6 quattro Sport - so nose heavy, but relatively stiffly sprung...

Instant improvement to the handling. Quicker turn in, and most importantly, you don't get nearly so much of that mid-bend understeer. Makes the car feel a heck of a lot more nimble. It's not a tail happy over-steer monster now by a long shot, but it's helped balance up the handling a bit from what was a pretty heavility understeer-biased motor before.

Highly recommended mod!

Update - took the car for a bit of a boot: man the handling is transformed! So much more confidence that the car will respond to throttle and steering input and not just understeer in a straight line. Why was the car not like this out of the box?!

To anyone with aspirations to enjoy their A4 - get the RS4 RARB immediately, you need it, it makes such a difference!
