2002 1.8T se 163? turbo prices....

Hi Guys....

I've had the unfortunate happenings of the blocked oil pick up pipe on my car. its just been replaced and flushed etc but unfortunately the turbo is knackered.(smokey exhaust :-( )
Ive had a price from the guys at D&S OShea in Crosby Liverpool who are vw/audi specialist and are the only people i could find in the area wh had heard of the problem... they've charged me 150plus vat for the pipe replacement, and he's quoted me 425plus vat to recon my turbo. does this seem a reasonable price? I was tempted to try and get hold of a KO3S but i like the comfort of the 2 year warranty that comes with the recon.

Would a K03S be a good upgrade?
Also, what turbo does the 163bhp have...I can only find info on the 150 and 180 engines... would i notice anything without a remap?

What sort of prices have people paid for turbos?

hi mate, sorry to hear bout your problem.

i think it has a K03 turbo, id spend abit more and dump in a K04! available form the states for about $750 or in UK brand new units starting from £600 from either AET turbos or Turbo Dynamics.

ive got A4 B5, 1.8T, looking to do a K04 conversion and get it to around the 280bhp mark!

Ouch, I suffered the same mate except it Fcuked my engine and turbo!!!

150 plus for the Pipe and fitting is way way over the top in My opinion, I ran this issue by with the mechanic who did my engine replacement and he told me the pipe costs £8.00, yes 8 quid so if they have charged you that amount then they are taking the **** mate because the labour shouldnt come to that much unless they charge £100 per hour!!!

The turbo is a K03 on our 163's, I was tempted to go with the K03s but wasnt sure so stuck with the same as it was. I got my Engine and Turbo from www.allaudi.co.uk , they were well helpful and quick with response etc, haggle with them, I do with every breaker and they give in, Squeeze them hard.
The turbo cost me £250 + vat and that was refurb'd and with a 6month warrenty.

You can pick up these turbo's quite easily, its just the AVJ engine which are rare - which is why they can charge a fortune..

Replacement K03's can be had on eBay for around £150 so keep on the lookout.

mines a bvb luckily. turbo technics wanted 500plus. so i've gone with the place in preston the garage recommended...for 425.

probably going to get my mate to remap it and i may look into getting an uprated turbo and injectors at a later date.....plus the clutch!

If I were you, I would get a K04-15 turbo instead. You can get one for 795$ from Kinetic Motorsport

It is almost the same price as K03, but after updating your ECU program its good for 230 hp. And you can run it on your current file without problems.
